MACMURCHY SCHOOL of HIGHLAND DANCE Performing Sunday, August 13th at 2pm
at the Fairgrounds

MacMurchy School of Highland Dance was original formed by dance instructor/director Mary Cicci around 1994 AS the Cicci School of Highland Dance in the basement of her George Street home. It grew to become New Tecumseth's largest Highland Dance school offering recreational and competitive highland dance classes for ages 4 and up. Year after year students were able to proudly perform at various local and community events. Sometimes even with pipe bands or pipers. Members of the studio have even performed with York Region Police Pipes and Drums in events like the 2008 York Region Police Military Tattoo, a benefit for the Special Olympics. Around 2002 Maggie MacMurchy came on board as an instructor and partner and has been the Director of the School since 2010. Local Alliston band, Astar the Robot [named after the fictional golden humanoid robot made famous by the War Amps charitable organization], visit the Potato Festival again this year, with some some fresh excitement and amazing renditions of current and classic hits.  Members include Luke & Josh Hutchinson and Guitarist Grant Boyer from The Entropy, and local guitarist Chris Taggart.  These lads know how to rock, and will having you grooving early Saturday evening.

DJ NIXTER - All weekend
Nick Poulakis aka DJ Nixter will once again MC and mix his music mashes to his hometown audience.  Known as a sportsmusic producer, DJ Nixter has entertained more the 33 million people in his 28 year career, and continues to entertain tens of thousands yearly as the Music Director for FIRST Robotics, where he DJ's the FIRST World Championships in Houston and St.Louis, as well as all the Canadian Regionals. He has been responsible for playing music for most of Toronto's Championship sports teams, Including the 92/93 Blue Jays World Series, the 91/96/04 Argonaut Grey Cups, 2002/2003 Toronto Rock World Championships, and recently the 2015 Oshawa Generals Memorial Cup...he has also been with the Leafs and Raptors, as well as the Barrie Colts, Mississauga IceDogs/Major/Steelheads.
