MIDNIGHT CLASSIC
Alliston Potato festival is proud to announce the return of the band, Midnight Classic, for a second year at the Festival Beer Gardens on Friday, August 7th, 2009 at 8:30pm.
Midnight Classic is a Southern Ontario-based band whose major influences include Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Black Crowes, and other various “Top 40 Classic Rock” bands. With their energetic vocals from drummer Jonny Hill and guitarist Doug Ballum to the blistering guitar soloing of Mike Scott and driving bass of Danny McLellan, this group has a sound that is purposefully raw and punchy for producing some of the most well-known and loved rock tunes from the 70’s, 80’s and today. It’s a sound that you can hear on the most popular classic rock/new rock stations today.
Visit the band’s website to see videos from the 2008 Alliston Potato Festival.

THE SEAN BOURKE BAND
It has been said that Sean's voice has a fresh quality seldom heard in today's bar bands. He has developed a sound that cuts through the music and hits home with his fans. With a career that spanned some twenty years, Sean has had the opportunity to perform with bands like Teenage Head, The Good Brothers, Blue Rodeo and others. He is currently working on a record with Brian Good.
Sean is joined by Patrick Gowan on bass and vocals whose musical family is well known. Pat's vocal stylings ranges from that of John Lennon to Rod Stewart. With solid bass lines Sean and Pat work well together.
Rounding out their sound is Michael Graziano on drums. Michael characterizes the aggressive strength and energy of the band while displaying a technical mastery of rhythems. With years of touring and recording to his credit Mike is a definite asset to the band.
To sum it up, the Sean Bourke band always pleases their audiance were ever they may be.
The Sean Bourke Band will be opening for Blue Rodeo Friday, August 7th as well as performing Saturday, August 8th at 4:30pm in the Beer Gardens.
SPORK
The band, Spork, are a new wave band, although they do play a variety of different types of music. Devon Doucet (guitarist/vocals), Connor Ivany (guitarist), Wes Morrison (bassist) and Neil Doleman (drummer) make up Spork. Each member brings their own unique style to the band, combining to form a sound like no other. However, when asked to compare, the four bands given were Blink 182, NOFX, Pennywise and The Stooges. Spork's brand of non-offensive new wave music is great for rousing the crowd but also very professionally done.
They are performing at 6:00pm at the Fairgrounds.

DR. MAGIC
Sunday, August 9th at 11 am and 1 pm at the Fairgrounds.
Who is Dr. Magic?
Rick Ross has over a quarter century of experience in a wide variety of venues including trade shows, sales meetings, private parties, birthdays, restaurant table hopping, event walk-arounds and stage performances. He has won numerous awards including the Society of Canadian Magicians and International Brotherhood of Magicians Creativity Awards as well as Toronto Hat and Rabbit Club stage and close-up competitions. He has also been published in the International Brotherhood of Magicians journal, the Linking Ring. But the real measure of success in the entertainment field is determined by audience reaction and referrals, and Rick does not take a back seat to anyone in these areas either. In addition to performing, Rick also teaches magic to both children and adults.
CHILD IDENTIFICATION PROGRAM
The members of Seven Star Masonic Lodge in Alliston will be sponsoring a MasoniCHIP child identification program at the fairgrounds on Saturday, August 8th, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The program is free of charge and parents/guardians will be provided with a separate package for each child. This package will contain a vital information sheet, wallet cards, a dental bite impression or cheek swab and CD containing digital photographs, digital video sample and digital fingerprints.
Security and privacy are of utmost importance – all volunteers must undergo a mandatory police check and the only item retained by MasoniCHIP Ontario is a signed permission form. After each child has been processed, their data will be deleted and erased from the system. All information will be collected and processed on site and then provided to the parent/guardian in an envelope along with the sentiment – “We hope that you never need to use it.”
