The Mobile Education Unit is a 30-foot trailer, wrapped in wall-to-wall graphics both inside and out, serves as a travelling classroom to promote the County’s Waste management programs and to encourage waste reduction. Geared towards today’s technologically-savvy youth, the MEU features four different interactive stations consisting of a total of 6-24-inch touch screens and 9 digital photo screens. It also has floors mad of 100% recycled tires and interior LED tract lighting.

KIDDIE COMMANDO
With the help of the forces from CFB Borden, we are glad to announce that the Kiddie Commando will be returning to our fairgrounds this year. So make sure you stop by this fun course that all kids will enjoy!

Francie Copelli - appearing at the fairgrounds August 6, 2011 3:30-4:00pm
A solo project by musician Francie Copelli.
You've probably seen her around before, as Francie has performed many times at places all around Alliston, such as the Gibson Centre and Groundswell.
She has had many projects with other musicians, and was a bandmate of Patrick Conry's. This will be her first official performance with her new project "ATTALOOM". Leaving the acoustic piano and vocals behind, her music is now electronic and dance-inspired. She plans on continuing her musical lifestyle when she goes to university in the fall.
MACMURCHY SCHOOL of HIGHLAND DANCE

MacMurchy School of Highland Dance was formed by dance instructor/director Mary Cicci around 1994 in the basement of her George Street home. It grew to become New Tecumseth's largest Highland Dance school offering recreational and competitive highland dance classes for ages 4 and up. Year after year students were able to proudly perform at various local and community events. Sometimes even with pipe bands or pipers. Members of the studio have even performed with York Region Police Pipes and Drums in events like the 2008 York Region Police Military Tattoo, a benefit for the Special Olympics.
Around 2002 Maggie MacMurchy came on board as an instructor and partner. Late last year when Mary announced her upcoming retirement from the dance school in preparation the studio was moved to Maggie's house on Queen Street Alliston .

DJ NIXTER'S CLASSIC ROCK WEEKEND

DJ Nixter and his mixed mashed mixes is back again this year to MC and playback some great tunes throughout the weekend at the Fairgrounds. The former DJ of the Toronto Blue Jays, Argonauts, and Rock has put together a slew of new mixes for this year's Potato Festival. Recently DJ Nixter DJ'ed the Canada Day festivities for the Town of New Tecumseth at the Alliston Riverdale Bandshell, and earlier this year was the head DJ/Music Programmer for the World Robotic's Championships at the Edward Jones Dome in St.Louis, Missouri, where he entertained over 35,000 kids from around the world. His unique approach and strategies used to DJ'ing has made him a leader in the Sports Music realm.
SONGWRITERS SHOWCASE

Songwriters Showcase is a unique show that celebrates and is devoted to the art and craft of songwriting. Founder and host George Scott welcomes premier singer songwriters from across Ontario and beyond. Whether it is stories of the road or tales of lost love, you’ll be entranced by the pure honesty and passion portrayed through these original songs. The Songwriters Showcase is a performance committed completely to the singer and the song. The featured artists join George in an intimate and acoustic setting. Each singer/artist performs their original compositions in a rotation format.

Nicole Scott, is bringing a brand new sound to music, and Canada is about to hear it! Nicole's mix of powerful vocals, rock and roll groove, and classic country elements, make for an innovative style. This young songbird is about to make her mark on the industry. Having already opened for Jason Blaine, and Jimmy Rankin, to name a few, Nicole is creating a buzz around her music.

Team K9 is a dog sport show that performs at fairs and other events. The show presents dogs of a variety of breeds and all dogs in the show are owned and trained by the people who participate in the show. This is a family oriented show and all events are performed to music and an emcee keeps the
audience riveted to the action.

The Ontario Provincial Police Golden Helmets Precision Motorcycle Team was formed in 1963. Each year they tour the Province of Ontario giving exhibitions of superb riding skills at fairs, festivals and parades. Coming straight out of the basement fueled by heartbreak and the dark underbelly of Stratford, Ontario, Jeffe Penny portrays the experience of growing up as well as modern personality archetypes through alternative hip-hop. He is currently recording his debut album entitled Girls.

Amy-Rose is a 16-year-old Alliston resident currently pursuing her career in Music.
Amy-Rose has performed numerous times through out Simcoe County and King Township. She performed in an international talent showcase in Miami and was asked to work with Eddie Wenrick who is currently helping on her first album.
She most recently performed at the Rivoli in Toronto.

Tom Heyfron

Born on a Friday the 13th, in London, England; Tom Heyfron's musical background reads like a "who's who" of the early British rock scene. Performing on the bass guitar, Tom has worked with Reg Presley, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart and Mick Waller in the early days of such groups as the Troggs, Action and Nightshift.
Tom continued his musical career in the busy Yorkville days of the sixties Toronto. He has been entertaining regularly throughout Ontario ever since and, relying on his background of British Rock and Blues, has built a reputation as one of the most intense performers on the scene with his high energy Classic Rock show of today.
